Alltran Health Phone Harassment?

Is Alltran Health (AH) calling you ceaselessly? Does the company threaten to take legal action against you, garnish your wages, or do they call you at odd hours of the day? Altran Health is a third-party collector based in Sartell, Minnesota who is licensed to collect on your personal debts (such as medical bills). The good news is that there’s hope; you can stop Alltran Health phone harassment.

When we mentioned earlier that you can stop Alltran Health debt collection harassment, you must have been left wondering how.  In order to begin the process of stopping the harassment from Alltran Health (AH), what you should know is that a powerful federal law called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act exits to protect the rights and dignity of harassed consumers like you against the many observed unethical debt collection practices that many third-party debt collectors like Alltran health inc engage in.

Despite how powerful it is in defending the rights of consumers, the FDCPA laws only apply to third-party debt collectors (this means that the FDCPA does not offer protection to consumers from creditors who are contacting them for the collection of debts owed directly to them). Additionally, the FDCPA and its regulations can only come to your aid in the case of personal debts. What this means is that the FDCPA does not offer protection to consumers for business debt. Examples of personal debts include mortgage loans, medical loans, student loans, credit card debt, and other types of loans taken out for a personal purpose.

Despite the fact that the FDCPA does not stretch to include these, it is important to consult with your state’s attorney-general, as the laws in your state may offer you additional protection against debt collectors like Altran Health.

More importantly, remember that you have a right to ask debt collectors to respect your FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) rights and treat you with dignity and respect. If they fail to do so, you can take the case to court and be awarded up to $1000 for statutory damages caused in the process of collection, and at times have your debt waved.

What are the Debt Collection Laws?

As we mentioned earlier, there are several laws that serve the purpose of regulating debt collection activity. The federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is one of such laws. The FDCPA, for instance, prescribes what is considered ethical and unethical debt collection practices; it limits what debt collectors like Alltran health inc can say to consumers and the actions they are allowed to take when attempting to collect a delinquent debt from a consumer. This law covers only personal debts such as mortgages, credit cards, medical debts, and any other debt for personal, family, or household purposes.

The FDCPA, unfortunately, was not created to include business debt or debts that are still owed to and being collected by the original creditor and not a third-party collection agency like Altran Financial Collections.

There are certain rules and regulations governing the conduct of debt collectors under the FDCPA. Altran Financial Collections, for example, cannot contact you in an unusual place or at a time they know is inconvenient for you.

Debt collectors are also required to immediately stop direct communication with you and, instead, contact your attorney if they are aware you have sought legal representation.

Another federal law that protects the rights of consumers like you throughout the debt collection process is known as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (or FCRA). The law monitors how debt being collected and more importantly, how it is being reported on your credit report. This law protects you from deceptive, illegal, and unfair collection practices from collectors like Altran Health that can potentially damage your credit rating.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (or TCPA for short) also protects you by guarding your telephone lines against the harassing tactics often employed by debt collectors and setting penalties for debt collectors who break the law. Although Altran Health is allowed to call you over your debt, they aren’t allowed to badger you with phone calls to the point where it becomes Alltran Health phone harassment.
